(PRWEB)
February 2, 2010 -- Appolicious Inc. today expands its growing suite of
services that help consumers find iPhone apps and Android apps by announcing
the acquisition of AppVee, which owns AppVee.com and AndroidApps.com. AppVee,
which was founded in 2008 shortly after the launch of the iTunes App Store,
caters to a large audience of iPhone app devotees, while AndroidApps.com is the
best location on the web to find apps developed for Google's Android mobile platform.
As part of the acquisition AppVee reviewers will continue to write for both
sites in addition to Appolicious. Appolicious plans to add more social features
to both websites, including the ability for users to create profiles and curate
lists of their top apps for any given subject.
"We
like the content and fan base AppVee offers, and the fact that their service
works so well on the web as well as the iPhone itself, and quickly determined
that an acquisition made sense," said Alan Warms, founder and CEO of
Appolicious.com. "Combining our audiences will offer a better social
experience for app users and a better solution for app marketers."
The sites
will maintain their original style, but Appolicious will add more social
benefits, such as the ability for users to create profiles, curate their own
list of top apps, import their app libraries, and more. AppVee and Appolicious
combined now carry thousands of iPhone app and Android App reviews,
compilations and industry news stories. Users will also benefit from more than
1,100 video reviews.
Alex
Ahlund, the visionary behind AppVee, will now serve as an adviser to
Appolicious. "From the beginning, I always thought that social
recommendations would be key to app discovery. Adding the Appolicious industry-leading
social feature set to the professional review AppVee sites will result in the
best of all worlds for our customers."
Appolicious
is available on the iPad, iPhone, and online.
There are
currently more than 140,000 iPhone apps available in the iTunes App Store and
more than 20,000, Android apps available in the Android Market. With the
release of Apple's iPad tablet computer, developers and major brands are
creating apps for the expanded screen site. The Appolicious network of sites
and iPhone application helps consumers locate apps on multiple screen sizes
including the iPhone, computer, and iPad which will be available in March.
The
acquisition of AppVee.com and Androidapps.com means Appolicious can continue
pursuing their mission to "create the best experience for app consumers
and solving the increasingly difficult problem of finding just the right
app," says Warms.
