Cricket
Communications Inc, a provider of wireless services and a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Leap Wireless International Inc (Nasdaq:LEAP), on Tuesday
launched the android device Huawei Ascend II.
Huawei
Ascend II is the successor to Cricket's deployment of its first low-cost
Android device, the Ascend, which was launched in October 2010. The original
Ascend has reportedly been Cricket's best-selling smartphone.
The Ascend
II, Cricket's fifth Android smartphone, features a 600 MHz processor, a 5
megapixel camera/ camcorder and the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.
It also features a 3.5" HVGA touch-screen with virtual keyboard, Wi-Fi
capability, 3G Real Web Browsing and a MP3 player/microSD slot.
This
smartphone also gives customers access to over 200,000 apps on the Android
Market as well as great Google applications such as YouTube, Gmail, Google
Maps, Google Search and more.
The Huawei
Ascend II is available at a retail price of USD179.99 in Cricket branded retail
stores, select dealers and on http://www.mycricket.com.
The phone
will also be offered on Cricket's all-inclusive USD55 Android plan, which
provides users with unlimited talk, text, 411 information, international text,
unlimited and video picture messages and also unlimited data services on the
company's all 3G network.
In
addition, customers utilising the USD55 rate plan have free access to MyBackup,
a system that enables subscribers to automatically protect, store and edit
their mobile contacts online and without the need for data cables.
