HandyGames,
a German publisher of mobile games, debuted its Townsmen 6 for Android on
GetJar, an open app store.
According
to a release, in March 2010, the sixth title in the Townsmen series was awarded
the "Best Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year" award by Pocketgamer
magazine at GDC. This blockbuster game is available on the Android platform
exclusively on GetJar. HandyGames joins other top publishers and brands such as
Digital Chocolate, Zynga, Angry Birds publisher Rovio, Com2us, and The
Salvation Army.
"Townsmen
6 is the highest quality for an international audience and offers unlimited
entertainment for all fans so it made perfect sense to bring our game to
Android as consumers take to the Android platform in droves," said Markus
Kassulke, CEO of HandyGames. "We decided to launch our games on GetJar
because of their proven ability to market apps and games to consumers around
the world and their willingness to work closely with us to build awareness of
our app."
"Despite
Android's monumental growth, the discovery of Android games has never been more
challenging," said Patrick Mork, CMO of GetJar. "GetJar's focus and
expertise in marketing games using PR, our partner channels such as Sprint,
AT&T and Yahoo! Mobile and other above the line marketing campaigns,
ensures that the few publishers we partner with really get significant exposure
for their content. HandyGames is a veteran of the games space with a reputation
for high quality games. We're delighted that they would choose GetJar to launch
the crown jewel of their games portfolio on the Android platform."
