LifeAware Adds Skyhook Location to Android App.

Android Developer Challenge winning app uses Skyhook for location
BOSTON -- Skyhook Wireless[R], provider of the patented Wi-Fi Positioning System (WPS) and the hybrid location system XPS, today announced an integration with LifeAware, the leading Android family and friend finding app.
LifeAware utilizes location information to facilitate location awareness between family members and friends. It increases your awareness of the whereabouts of your family and friends by updating maps accessible on your mobile handset and the web. Safety features of the application allow you to receive automatic alerts when a family member enters or leaves a fully customizable geographical zone, or send your location to anyone, even individuals whom are not LifeAware members so that they can find you. Geo-tagging capabilities allow you to mark any location and let LifeAware guide you back to it later.
"Due to the nature of the LifeAware application, it is critical that a user's location be captured quickly and accurately," said Gregory Moore, founder and CEO of LifeAware. "Skyhook Wireless provides location performance and accuracy that is not available with the current Android API, especially indoors."
"There are thousands of location aware mobile apps available today, and they all require fast and accurate location," said Kate Imbach, director of marketing and developer programs at Skyhook Wireless. "Where native platforms like Android don't offer reliable location, developers are turning more and more to Skyhook."
LifeAware can be downloaded today in the Android Marketplace. Skyhook Wireless offers a publicly available SDK for Android developers, available here: http://www.skyhookwireless.com/developers/sdk.php.
